Has anyone got a Pennine in the new acrylic fabric (not the latest Quartz type but the original acrylic material). If so, how do you find it? What are the main advantages/disadvantages over canvas?

It does occur to me that  if all new Conways are acrylic and new Pennines a Dandy type plastic - those older canvas ones are going to start getting a bit rare. Hen's teeth and excellent resale value in a couple of years springs to mind.

Hi, we got a new penine last year with the acrylic cover.  They are great.  Very quick drying and the rain just runs off the side.  We did have to put ours away wet once and could not open it up for almost 6 weeks (not recommended but had no choice) and it was fine.  The only bit of mildew was in the inner lining which can be washed.  Still has that lovely tenty canvassy "feel" to it and its great.  Would definatlely recommend if you can afford it.

That's good to know - and presumably the new Quartz fabric will be even better. If it carries on like this the Dandy lovers will be converting.

We have a 2009 Crusader and love the acrylic. No problems with condensation and dries really quickly. Ours was a bit wet when we bought it so we opened it up a couple of days later. About an hour later the heavens opened and it was two weeks before we were able to put it away. No leaks at all and dry in no time when the rain eventually stopped. The water just beads off and the residue is easily wiped dry with a towel.

It has all the advantages of canvas with none of the disadvantages...so far

We have also a Crusader 2009 and used many many times this year. Lots of rain and shine and the acrylic has been brilliant. No problem what so ever. In the morning there is a bit of condensation in the bed sections if you touch the roof, but it soon clears.

I also had a big worry on the canvas/acrylic issues and so glad I went with the acrylic.

I wouldnt have a problem with using ours out of season. Our first trip out was at Easter. Everything was thick with frost in the mornings but the acrylic dried really quickly and was fine for packing up after we had breakfast. We were warm as toast inside.

Hi, not as brave as Pottsy, but did start using it early this year and quite chilly at night and sharp in the mornings, however with the fan heater on the "1" position, kept us all warm and toasty.

I have no doubt that the camper would be fine to use out of season, not sure the wife would want too though.

Regards
