Have just collected my pathfinder and the outside needs bit of a clean as it has a lot of black water lines etc on it.
There seems to be a lot of caravan cleaners on the market. Are these any good?
Are they suitable for the FC body?
Does anyone have any other recommendations?
I just use washing liquid and a sponge,I take the cover off first and wet with a trickling hose, then scrub like mad, and then hose it off carefully. For the canvas a soft brush is all i use, nearly everytime i erect the FC it rains anyway. LOL
We got a free sample of fenwicks caravan stuff and have used it on the body. The bit I find worst is the "odd"plastic round the battery box. I have resorted to jif and and water on that. The canvas I leave well alone.
------------- Good friends are hard to find, difficult to leave and impossible to forget.
Like Jan, the frame round the battery box does seem to get really black, and Jif or Cillit Bang is the only solution. I find "Silky" caravan cream is fantastic for the front, back and sides. It gives the plastic a wonderful shine but use sparingly unless you like lots of elbow grease muscles.
I take the fridge vent panels off and scrub them in the sink. When putting FC away for winter, a good tip is to apply Vaseline liberally to the electrical 12N and 12S plugs to prevent and problems during the long damp months.
Alternatively, get yourself a big workshop like mine and erect the Pathfinder in it.
Then use it all winter as a howf to cook your lunches and afternoon teas in while you are escaping from the wiff who thinks you are slaving away over some major project that just has to take up all of your time.
Ofcourse, come the Spring there will be the inevitable week long clean up as I attempt to get it looking all pristine as if it has been all wrapped up and stowed for the winter.
Same as I use on the car halfords car wash and a bit of concentrated liquid on stubborn makes. Anything abrasive will leave small microscopic scratches that dirt will ingrain in- well according to my son and hes a commercial vechile refinisher. Lobey thats sounds a good ploy to escape well done
I used some warm water and washing up liquid to remove the worst of the marks and then some autogylm car polish to give it a nice shine. Looks like new!!
