After looking at numerous TT and visiting a few shows we have decided that the Camp-let is going to be our best bet. Can any of you camp-let owners offer any advice on what to look for when buying or where to buy second-hand from.

We may yet still buy new but as we have never done camping i wanted to make sure that my wife and kids will take to it.

Im after a concord or Royal model afetr 2008

Any advice or help would be appreciated

Regards

If buying second hand, look for
(1) any sign of creasing on the part of the canopy pole that goes out over the kitchen. This is often bent if the side part was not opened before raising. Can be straightened or replaced.
(2) Check the runners and attachment of the underfloor storage and valance which goes along the lower part of the trailer. This can be torn or missing clips.
(3)Look at the reinforced points on the canvas, especially in the corners of the roof. If it has been put up incorrectly there will be chafing beside the reinforcement.
(4) The wire support of the kitchen is very fragile, make sure it locks properly
Check the neoprene seal around the rear of the trailer, which is on the two halves when open. Often this can get damaged when closing up and putting the tailgate into place. Rain can get in when travelling when it is damaged.
(5) Check the mounting of the gas strut. It is the weak part of the fibreglass shell.
(6) make sure it has a jockey wheel fitted.
(7) if a side pod is fitted, look for any evidence of leakage through the zip ( an unfortunately common problem)

Apart from that, there are quite good little units!

Thank you SGThomas for your valuable  advice i will take this with me to any viewing we do. Although they seem fairly rare second-hand so may have to think about new.

Thanks again

Hope you find one... we love ours we have a 2008 model, though the latest camperlands deal seem to be selling the 2010 model for not much more, with more stuff!

Don't buy a new one, wait until spring and lots will come up on here for sale.

Reason being you might not like it and then lose lots of money when you come to sell it again! We lost over £1000 in less than a year, They are great TT's but not for everyone, just do a thread search to read all the posts about them, but you never know if some thing suits you until you try it out properly

Hi there,we bought a second hand Royal from Camperlands last October which was that years model. It must have been used once as the beds were still boxed and you could clearly see the stove had only had one burner used!We still got all the usual extras and it had the anex,It was £1000 cheaper than brand new so there are bargains out there. We love it and feels like your 'posh'camping. The Royal is well big enough for us and our 2 girls and, the annex is great for longer trips away for extra storage and to hide the toilet. It is an expensive purchase but, with a holiday abroad costing over £2000 you are soon paid back.

We bought ours from Camperlands in the spring it was a two year old model but had only been sold the year before, we no longer have it we sold it on Preloved, but I would leave it until Spring, good luck.

Loads for sale in holland, but the Dutch get their money's worth out of campers , and one that's a couple of years old may have had more use than expected.

We bought a Concorde in a Royale base from Camperlands in late August this year, just in time for the Bank Holiday weekend.  Think we got a good deal with extras thrown in.  My wife has a bad back so it was a gamble, but the new beds with the slats and the matrasses, well not a problem.  I sleep like a log and she wakes up without a twinge.  Very comfortable, very sturdy and plenty of room.  Took it down to the Loire Valley in Late October and despite some quite challenging night time temps, no problems.  Don't scrimp and go for the Camplet, you wont regret it and shouldn't need to be changing it.  Good decision :-)
