As I mention in my other (!Sorry!) thread, we just purchased a Raclet Solena.  We haven't had much chance to use it yet but one of the things the OH would like to do is have an extra mattress on top of the main mattress that we can put on the floor for our daughter to sleep on when we don't want to bother putting up the awning and bedroom annex.

Does any one who has a Solena or similar know if we could get away with keeping an extra foam or memory foam mattress on top of the main mattress in the bed and still be able to close the lid?  We were thinking that we might perhaps get away with a two inch memory foam mattress or someting similar.

Has anyone tied this or know if it will work?  I don't really want to spend the money getting something only to find out we can't get the lid closed!

To be honest, unless you really like hard beds then you will need extra padding on top of the standard foam Solena bed anyway.

We used to have a single Duvet on top of the mattress with an elasticated double mattress protector cover over the lot all the time. This added about 50mm to the depth.

I think a good thick self inflating camping mat would be a better idea for sleeping on the floor. It could be rolled up & stored under the bed.

I fitted two twin electric sockets with an electric hook up into our Solena, which cut down on loads of trailing cables everywhere.
