Hi folks.

This year we have had to store the Penine Sterling of ours on the drive. I went to move it the other day as the tyres have been in the same spot too long as it is and one wheel is locked (brake seems on).

Any thought and tips of how to release it?

Tow it forward/backward will usually release it.

Easy to be wise after the event but leave it stored with handbrake off. If you can get it on stands wheels off the ground so much the better.

As above, but if all else fails sometime a bit of gentle heat applied to the drum can help.

If you have to use a bit of force make sure you use a rubber, wood or brass mallet, not a steel hammer. Hitting a brake drum with steel can cause one of them to shatter which can result in serious eye injury.

Thanks folks, it's unjammed now.

I attached the car and dragged it a foot ot two, then unhooked it and pulled it out of the rut in the gravel and it freed.

I jacked both sides up to "spin" the wheel so it doesn't perish and left the brake off. It can't roll and it's clamped anyway.

When I get chance I'll service the brake shoes give it a good clean and regrease with copper grease.
