We have a 2005 Combi camp Venezia. 2 adults and 3 children (5, 10, 15) in the 2 x double bed format. Gives us enough space.
We have the rear two bed annex which covers the hitch and front locker so a good place for a toilet, hanging wet suits, storing stuff etc. The rear annex has the two person tent insert which 15 year old sleeps in.
We keep the front main awning and rear awning attached so putting up is quite quick, about 1 hour from start to finish, including pegging and setting up table and chairs, beds etc.
We have attached 4 relatively cheap (from Halfords, approx £18 each) bike carriers so can carry 4 bikes, surfboard and storage boxes on the rear. It is a braked trailer and I moved the axle forward to reduce nose weight (simple job).
The build quality is very good and having the kitchen set up in 1 minute is great - we store all utensils, pots and pans etc, and most of the food in the drawers etc.
Inside the trailer we also carry, one small-ish dining table, for lightweight folding stools (with small backrests), sleeping bags x5, camping mat (for rear bed annex), wetsuits x5, barbequ.
In the front box goes the gas, water bottle, charcoal, camping light etc.
Only thing in the car is cloths and pillows.
Poles go in a length of 4" pipe strapped underneath at the back.
Go for it. With a large family they are much better than a Camplet.

We bought a combi camp last year but our model won't take any annexes (~20yr old model with new canvas). There are only really olds one for sale at the mo but when spring comes I'm sure there'll be more recent models. We bought ours from Siggi, the main dealer. He has quite a turnover of 2nd hand units so worth contacting him.

I do like the hard floor. Would love in a few years to get a newer model with underbed storage, attached kitchen, awning which can stay zipped on. We're thinking of using the main unit with a day tent for short stays as it's easy for us to dry the main unit but drying the awning is a bit of a pain as we can't peg it out on the tarmac drive.

Greenhill, I used metal strapping/band in place of the U-bolts supplied, and bolts. This strapping is flat so fits between the bars and the hard top. It may appear not to be strong enough but if you get a reasonable quality it is - no tears etc. to date. I always cable lock the bikes to the trailer roof-rack for security anyway, and this provides a backup should there be a failure of the brackets.
