Hi I am 6 foot 2" tall so can anybody recommend a trailer tent that has a big enough bed for me to sleep streteched out?

Plus we are looking at 2nd hand trailer tent and wounder how much it is to replace the foam mattresses?

Plus wants the best type to buy?

Plus do most campsites allow trailer tents?

So many questions but would like some help.

regards

mike

Hi

Not sure how long the beds are but here's a link to the Conway owners club that has all the different models and years that also have the specifications of those models http://www.conwayowners.org.uk/units.htm

If you have a market or shop that sells foam nearby they will have something to suit but not sure of the prices, sorry.

Depends on who you ask as to what is the best make.  Going by price then the Raclet/Jamet/Trigano are the most expensive then the Conways and Cabanons and on the lower end are the suncamps.  I am a Conway fan and have no complaints with the one i previously owned (i haven't had chance to put up the one i have recently bought but having researched it i am more than happy with the specifications)

And most campsites and caravan sites accept tt's so you shouldn't have a problem and though caravan sites won't accept tents they will mostly accept a tt :)

And finally Welcome to this very friendly helpful site, any questions asked will get answered most comprehensively and quite often you will get so many differing answers that your head will spin and you may feel that you wished you hadn't asked lol.

Hi Mike,

I'm 6' 1" and i have a Conway Cruiser Folding Camper and find the bed is plenty big enough for me, and i have recently bought a  Conway Cardinal hardtop FC, which is the same size beds.

As Ashwellgirl says, most campsites take TT or FC, even if they dont take tents. FC's are sometime called convertible caravans too.

FC's tend to be easier to put up, we can erect our conway in 10-15mis, although you need to add another 40mis or so if you put up a full size awning. The advantage of FC over a trailer tent is the fact that they have onboard cooker/fridge/sink unit and some have hot water, toilet and full oven.

The TT's have kitchen units but these are generally fixed to the rear of the trailer and then have to be wheeled into the awning, which means you have to put the awning up, whereas with FC's the kichen is internal and you can use the main cabin with out the need for the extra awning.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to personal preference, but i would always go for an FC.

Andy.

I am 6' 4" and the beds in the Pennine Pathfinder are plenty big for me.

Oh and usually 5 minutes after I get into my bed, 2 white woolly hot water bottles climb in beside me but that is another story. [see gallery].

I think i  can beat you on that with my 6ft human radiator, only trouble is with him is that though he keeps me warm he does snore very loudly :(

He says that he had no trouble with stretching out fully on our Conway Contiki so hope that helps :)

Must admit that i am looking forwards to going and getting in the other bed when he gets too loud, though we don't have 11 feet between us

She who must be obeyed says I used to snore like a jet fighter in take off mode, but now I sleep with a breathing machine and apart from the low fan noise on it, silence reigns supreme in our bedroom and in the FC.

Hi

we bought our T T last year after giving up caravanning about 4 years before due to back problems.we miised the outdoor life so thought about a T T.
I am 6' 4" tall and  we needed a T T  that had beds long enough and were comfortable.
we found that T T with the door at the rear meant that the beds are about 2" longer than a  T T with a side door. we found a Penninne Fiesta  fitted the bill and has been just what we wanted although the mattresses are not thick enough so we bought a cut to size memory foam topper  and it was so comfortable that we then bought another topper for our bed at home as we slept  better in the T T than at home.

Combi camps are great, extremely comfortable beds, plenty of bed space, very light to tow and quick to put up.

I have had 2, brilliant no frills tents, just check the canvas carefully and the piano hinge for wear.
