I am going to sell my Raclet TT and want to know if I am better off selling as a private add or should I take it to a dealer to let them sell it for me.
Does anyone know how much a dealer is likely to want as commision or do they simply buy it from you.
I will be buying a FC and should I consider offering the TT as part exchange or will I be getting offered considerably less than its true value by doing it this way.
id have a look on ebay and such and get a rough idea of what they are going for,ive been looking lately for my sister and the prices are just starting to creep up a little but there are some bargains out there,i paid good money for mine a few weeks ago but its only 4 yrs old with one owner from new with an extra added awning to the existing one and is in mint condition with all paper work and was local to me...as for dealers ive not a clue...

I'd sell it privately as a dealer won't offer you anything like you'd get from a private sale.
There are freeads on ukcs, preloved and gumtree if you want to try those 1st and if it doesn't sell then try ebay though you will then have to pay extra fees. Though if you are willing to sell it before the ebay listing ends then you don't have to pay the extra fees. People will ask you for your buy it now price and you could add on the listing that it is advertised elsewhere.
I've watched stuff being sold that way all the time and if there is something i am interested in i will email the seller for their buy it now price.
I suspect most dealers wouldent want do just sell it for you, and then again the wont give you what its worth best bet is to set your self a minimum trade in price and go and haggle on a folding camper, and if you dont get no joy see how much he will take for cash and then soften the blow by getting as much as you can back on ebay
I recently sold our TT via preloved after contacting a dealer last Oct. He said he'd only offer £700 as he'd have to pay VAT when he sold it. I sold it for £1200.
From watching Ebay I'd say we'd have got a lot more selling our Camplet than we did trading it in, but we wanted the simplicity and a straight swap so were willing to take the hit.
Sell private for sure, last year we saw a 2010 countryman for sale in a caravan dealer near to us with awning,we asked if he would give us for our aztec which was in great condition for its age he told us he could only go as far as £500,we were insulted so we sold it private and got a lot more.
