We went to the NEC show today, because we are looking at selling our caravan and getting a camp-let or combi camp. we found a stand for the camp-let,and had a good look round one, were a bit dissapointed that the combi camp was no where to be seen, we are now steering towards the camp-let as we havnt seen a combi camp, any suggestions would be greatly recieved
------------- we have seen the light at the end of the tunnel tent
We had a Combi-Camp back in 1989 which we used for a couple of years. They were manufactured in Denmark but I thought the company went into liquidation in the early 90's according to what one of the camping outlets told us. They may have started up again which I think they did but there doesn't seem to be much mention of them these days. Maybe I'm wrong but other trailer tenters may be able to shed some light as to whether they are still currently being manufactured. I would have thought that if they were they would have certainly had a stand at the NEC.
We looked at the Combi Camp & the Camplet, and bought a second-hand Combi Camp. The reason being, if we need to do a one-night stay, it's quicker to erect the main unit of the Combi & have a nice solid floor in the living area, than to erect the Camplet & have to peg it down, then lay a groundsheet down too.
Ww bought the Combi in the autumn, so I'm longing to take it on it's maiden voyage, but I have erected it on my own three times in the garden & it's so easy - the awning is another matter, haven't tried that yet
You probably did better with the Combi for initial ease of opening, we sold our Concorde as we found it more and more difficult to open single handedly, even with the gas struts.
Hope you have a great time on the maiden voyage..think "new beginnings" rather than "Titanic"
We bought our combi camp from the dealer last year. Old trailer with new canvas, awning, mattresses and inner tent. Worth giving them a ring as they have 2nd hand units in and out a lot of the time. The main unit is very easy to put up, I'm 5'2" and can do it on my own in a minute or 2. The awning is a different matter and in a few years we're considering upgrading to a newer model with telescopic poles. We're thinking of using a day tent with the main unit for weekends as a quick, simple combination and easier for us to dry if have to pack up wet (we can't peg out our awning at home).
