Hi everbody

Just picked up my Conway Crusader yesterday, and have been waiting to get inside to clean and play with my new toy but the weather here has been raining all day.

Will it be alright leaving it outside all winter with just the cover it came with?.Have tilted it down then the rain runs off

any tips on storage would be helpfull to a first time owner.

Roll on sunny days

If it has a fixed cover like the pathfinder ie sealed at the front put the nose end up so any condense on the underside runs out the back. Leave taps etc open with the water system drained. Take out any curtains linings etc to allow air to circulate. You can put bubble wrap between the cover and unit. We spent the extra and bought the breathable winter cover for ours but not quite sure what the situation with crusaders expect they do one. Have fun.

Hi Chris-congratulations on your new purchase - can imagine it's driving you nuts having it & not being able to "play" with it!! Have only had our camper for about 2 months so can only pass on what the dealer advised-i.e. same as Jan about the "giant" bubble wrap that comes with them - if you don't have it , it may be worth trying to get hold of some and if it is a "proper" dry day maybe open it up to let it air out - (just pulling the cover off is ok, no need to erect it, unless it is slightly different with conways, as the canvas is already down?). Also leave the handbrake off & wind down the corner steadies to "take the bulge out of the tyres" ,if possible move it around now & then so a different part of the tyre is on the floor. Think the breathable winter cover is a good idea too if it's stored outside.

Yours, Bernard

Hi everybody

Thanks for your advice, hopefully it is going to be dry this weekend and we can both enjoy a day playing around with it .As well airing it out. This is sad but i said to Angie my wife ,we will find our self next year on the road looking out for folding campers to wave at . Is this what happens as i think we are a special breed?

All the best to all in the campers club.

I'm an incurable folding camper spotter Chris - OH took great amusement last summer in spotting them and seeing if I could tell what they were before they were close enough to read the wording on them - got most of them right!  I think it's a disease you catch once you've owned one!

I agree with all the above advise ,but i also take the wheels off and put axle stands in their place.I have done this for years with no problems and it reminds me in the spring to check the running gear and brakes.

Chris-will be interesting to see if folding campers wave to each other-we have yet to see another on the road !! Mind you we have only been out with it 4 times & these were only short trips to the Lakes & only had it about 2/3 months so the season was almost over for the majority of folks. One look at these posts tells you that we are a special breed - Strange & sad but still special  !! Good luck with the weather this weekend!!

See you soon, Bernard

Just a point you don't have to put your toy away for winter, you could use it.

To play with your new toy in winter all you need is a good set of sleeping bags and a heater, much better than not being able to play out

We have a few units from your area comming to Wrenbury for the new year meet, your welcome to join us and show off your new toy. There are 2 or 3 there with units they have just purchased, so it will be there first time out. Good luck and hope you dont have to wait to long to play out

Chris, did you get it out over the weekend - (the camper that is  !!). If so did you sit in it on the drive "playing" We got some funny looks when we put ours up to dry once (mind you we live on a main road so there are more people about to laugh at us!! Think we should have stuck to a tent-that goes up in the back garden !!

See you soon, Bernard

Should have stuck to a tent - you don't mean that Bernard!  People passing are not laughing at you - they are curious and jealous.

Hi Everyone

just a quick question we also where told about bubble wrap but cannot remember how the dealer told to put it in he said about using cardboard and bubble wrap but does the card board go in first or the bubble wrap and do you need it if we have a storage cover

best wishes

Jo - I know EXACTLY how excited you are!  When we ordered our Pathfinder (in November) we were told March or possibly April for delivery - but last weekend our dealer asked if we could do him a favour and take it early as he and Pennine are running out of storage space!  I nearly kissed him - our delivery is now set for the first week in February - 7 weeks and counting.  I don't think 'excited' covers it!

Enjoy your new 'baby' - can't wait to get my paws on mine!!
