Hi all we're new to this having just purchaed a conway crusader. we had the idea to freeze some dishes before we go, but does anyone know of reasonably priced freezer boxes/units which we could load into the FC and take with us. Also what are other people's experiences of taking frozen food away with them. Thanks, looking forward to your rplies.

hi Tony
No I was looking for a 12volt freezer box or something which uses the electric hook up to keep food, already frozen at home, still frozen when away from home.I've seen a symbol on some of the camp sites which advertises some kind of freezer opportunity but having only just bought our crusader we haven't yet been away to know how all of this works.

ok i see well if you freeze stuff at home to take away a good way to keep frozen is with a coolbox (non powered)you can get some by coleman which are rated for 5 days, and would be alot cheaper than a 12v freezer.as to freezers on site these are normally to refreeze ice packs, but i have seen some for use by campers to store food.

Thanks Tony for this explanation that's really useful. I'll google the 'coleman range' as that may very well be sufficient. Until we get really slick at packing and unpacking 5 days is likely to be the maximum!!

Waeco:

We have a Waeco, slightly cheaper, and slightly less power, but Engel are well known for expedition use.

We too have had a Waeco in the past and that is why I recommended them.

They use very little power for what they deliver and even the ice box in the fridge will freeze foods and is brill for keeping ice cream in perfect nick.

It is great watching the faces of fellow campers when you appear from the van with an ice cream cone on a hot sunny day.

Aye the fair drooooooooooolllll.
