Another Question

How much weight can I put on top of a Folding camper, say I wanted to bring along a full size fridge, bbq, bikes, Outdoor chairs, loungers, table, the list goes on and on.

Ive seen FCs with roof racks fitted but want an idea of what I could carry for a long trip abroad.

Pay load varies but around 200 kg think you would be pushing your luck with that list.

I think with that lot on it wont be long till your suspension gives out on you ,especially with the state of our roads if there not full of pot holes there like a patch work quilt

Check the camper specification.  For instance, on our Dandy, the unladen weight is 390Kg.  Max weight is 500Kg, giving 110Kg of load capacity.  BUT, the unladen weight does not include the leisure battery, 2 x gas bottles or the contents of the kitchen.  We manage a folding table, chairs, some toys, surf board & the bedding on top of that lot.  Any more & you will overload the suspension.  Indespension type suspension units use rubber blocks loaded under torsion.  They sag over time & will be much worse if loaded to excess.  They can let your tyres touch the inside of the wheeel arch with potential for shredding.  Worse still they can (and do sometimes) collapse.
