We have just bought an 1970 Dandy can any one help. There are 4 cords in side the trailer tent what are they for. Also where can we buy a new roof for the dandy we are restoring
I don't think tent valeting services are the right guys. they are brilliant on canvas and polyester tents, awnings and trailer tents, but the Dandy is welded PVC.
The contact for parts maintenance and information is the original manufacturers:
The 4 cords are for erecting the roof poles. The Dandy is a unique beast to set up, but very easy once you've seen it done. Look on Youtube for the factory assembly video. The cords fasten onto plastic buttons at the outer corners on the underside of the beds. They allow the roof poles to pull up by themselves when turning over the beds. More help on the Dandy Owners Yahoo Group. You'll need to join, but there is a wealth of help on there. I'll second Dave's comment about Riva in Wigan. Ian Smith, the guy who runs it probably built your camper. They can repair or make anything on the campers. Enjoy your camper!
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HELP. We bought the dandy just over a week ago for £200.00 it was in a bad state of repair but my husband has it painted washed etc. It is wonderful we love it. We were campers before we bought the dandy this is our first and will be a rolling repair as we go along. any help with all your wealth of knowledge is a great help thankyou.
A visit to the Dandy Owners Forum www.dandyforum.co.uk would also be good, these guys are very experienced Dandy owners, very friendly & an absolute mine of information. I have found them really helpful since I bought my Dandy last summer.
