Hi, I have been offered a Jamet trailer tent for £350. I have yet to see it myself but it is a friend of mine that has it for sale and I am assured it is in very very good condition. She is unable to tell me the model or year as it is stored elsewhere but has given me what I assume is a chassis number. I did read a post on here that recommended the Yahoo group for Trigano as there is a database I could refer to, but as yet, after 4 days, I have not had my request to join authorised. There hasn't been any activity on there since Dec '10 and am assuming that its no longer active for new members.

Is there anyone on here that could possibly help me? Especially if they are a member of the Yahoo group.

Thanks

The Trigano site has been very quiet over winter and it is possible that the administrator has not had a chance to catch up lately. As far as I know the database only works for Trigano models but if you send me the chassis number I'll give it a try.

Thanks very much for replying.

I'm not sure if it is an actual chassis number or not, but if you could have a look that would be great.

The number we have been given is -  VGL43096

We were assuming that the numbers were a date code and the VGL was a reference to the model, but obviously we are not certain.

Thanks again.

I've gone through the database and it only includes Trigano units so I checked through the list to see if your number was in the middle of a batch which might help date it but unfortunately I couldn't find it (there are 18456 chassis numbers listed).

The VGL number is the chassis number on Trigano group products and you can often get a rough idea of date from a datestamp on the wheels eg 03/95 being March 1995.

At £350 it must be worth having a look at and if the canvas is ok and the tyres and lights are fine it is probably a good deal.

Sorry I can't help any more at the moment.

Thats great thanks for looking. We were trying to get an idea of the value for money.

Not having much information doesnt help much when searching.

Thank you once again

Are you able to establish the colour of the canvas? You could then have a look on ebay to see if there are any similar.

Well, we are now the happy owners of a Jamet Monatana.

I emailed Camperlands with the chassis number and they came back with it being a 1999 manufacture with a possible 2000 brochure date.

We've only had it up the once yet and apart from a bent jockey wheel stem and a very small hole just above the door, we are happy.  My fella needed to weld one of the corner steadies and it's got odd rear lights but for the price we paid for it along with loads of stuff it's ok.

The fact that it has a Raclet 'A' frame locker on it is a bonus. Shame there are no keys as yet lol.

Thanks for the help folks. The old man would rather have a caravan but we can't afford a decent one, and I can't tow one (he can't drive at the minute), he has had to comprimise lol.
