Hello everyone, been mulling for a while over getting a trailer tent. Looking to pay around £3000.00 and are particulary interested in the Trigano Odyssee and Camplets, but second hand models seem quite rare.
We are going to see a second hand cabanon stratos at the weekend, its about an hours drive away from where we live. We are couple with medium sized (shar pei) dog and although we really like the look of the stratos I am concerned that it might be a bit big for the 3 of us. There are so little choice near to where we live and thats why we are going to see it.
Can anyone who knows the stratos advise if its too big and if so could they suggest a smaller trailer tent that might be better for us.
not sure too bigs ever a criteria in tents ,too much effort putting it all up probably is.
we (the two of us) have an old chantilly ,just about worth putting it all up but come bad weather or visitors all that space is a boon.
i presume the more modern examples are even easier to erect
we started with a vango that was supposed to sleep 6 ,yesa if you were midgets on very friendly terms ,too small is a far more risky than to big IMHO
Thanks guys. I just wasn't sure if it was too big or too complicated for us being first time trailer tent users. We havent seen the stratos in the flesh and where concerned it might be huge. We would definitely have visitors from time to time and that extra space does sound appealing :0)
In the cabin there will be two double beds 145cm x 200cm. In our case a Cabanon Stellar, virtually identical cabin - we use one bed for all the luggage.
Awning is good for extra storage + somewhere to hang out in inclement weather. I believe the Stratos pitches quicker than ours, which takes an hour, to fully pegged. Two of us set up the cabin, and the awning fabric, then I do all the pegging whilst my wife organises bedding etc.
If overnighting don't use the awning. Then half an hour.
Don't know if this will help but have you got a measuring tape? Measure the lentgh and width of the living area and mark it out in your living room or garden and then imagine what stuff you would take with you i.e cooker, table and chairs, wardrobe, other seats, table for tv, table for kitchen, dog cage, extra storage etc and then you'll see that no tt is too big lol.
That is what i did when i was looking into buying a tt and saw cheaper smaller ones and quickly realised that we did need one with a large awning lol.
Even with it up i'm thinking that with all that i want to take it will be a squeeze lol
I'd love a tt with a zig but they don't seem to do one big enough for me. The Triganno ones do have the new quicker set up poles i think?
I'm sure you will fall in love with the stratos :)
We have a stratos and love it. When we bought it there was three of us, but our daughter doesn't come on holiday with us now and we love the extra space. As others have said, we sleep on one side and use the other side for storing clothes, etc. We have a wardrobe and cupboard in the awning along with a table and chairs, fridge and cooking unit. The space is lovely, especially in cool or inclement weather.
The only thing I don't like is that it takes a while to get set up just right, my hubby is a perfectionist where tents are concerned! So we now only use it for our main 2-3 weeks holiday in summer and have bought a tent for weekends, which is quite large but much quicker to put up.
thanks everyone, off to camperlands at the weekend to see what we like, we really like that stratos but want to see what else is out there, hopefully we wont get sucked in and buy a brand new
