Hi all just got back from our easter break, all went well with FC but just got one small problem,we have a large stain on the carpet it was caused by spilled water, which my oh tried to clean up by rubbing with a cloth, this resulted in a large mark on the carpet, any ideas on what to clean the carpet with, without wetting it to much, the carpet is 12 years old and could do with a clean anyway,if it won't come clean my other option is to replace with Lino, which will be easier to keep clean.

many thanks

Yes, the vanish foam cleaner cleaned our caravan carpets up a treat, it even managed to get the Ribena stain out that our grandaughter spilt one night and had dried in by the morning, leaving a visible ring stain.

It took us two cans with a total cost of just under £8 to clean the entire vans floor, just sprayed it on then worked it in with a kitchen sponge, then left it on overnight and vaccumed it off the next day.

whatever you do dont scrob hard or in circles it splits the pile and makes it look fluffy i used to fit carpets a good few years ago and have seen this done before spray on the cleaner then dab and put some weight on it to really soak up as much of the cleaner as you can

its a bit like a sponge as you lift the weight off its pulls out the stain if it has loosened it.when you say the carpet could do with a clean you may find you need to do it all anyway as there will be a cleaner spot if you use lino or vinyl as i know it lol a small bead of silicone around the edge stops any more spillages seeping underneath lockers/cupboards

we found it easier to take the carpet out completely and replace with a new offcut of hessian backed carpet spray glued into place and a new brass carpet strip fitted as well .
we used a off-cut left over from the daughters bedroom so there was no cost apart from £4 for the strip

Like you I'm replacing the carpet. I had an accident with the sink drain and had water all over the floor so am taking out the carpet and replacing it with vinyl left over from the kitchen, Easier too, when the kids traips grass and stuff in.

Aye you can't beat the cushion floor. If you want to you can always get a rug for the floor whcih can then be easily removed for cleaning or replaced. We tend to have a rug in the dining area of our Cardinal, and leave the rest of the cushion floor uncovered. Much easier to keep clean with dog.... or even kids if you really have to take them along!
