Took the Raclet to Breydon Water last weekend and we loved it. Towed really well.

We need to sort out a better groudsheet for it (the wife's not too keen on it not being sewn in like a tent) as the one that came with it was woefully inadequate but other than that it was great!

First outing (and without the instructions) and we still got it up in under 90 minutes!!

She told me to take loads of pictures so I thought she was gonna put her on eBay, lol, but we're out in her again this weekend - a bit more local though!!

Hi Kybo,

I was used to a SIG in our tent and this was what initially put me off a TT, however i used the footprint from our tent, you could use tarpaulin form B&Q etc.

Its approx 4 inch too big all round so makes what i call a bucket groundsheet. On top of this i use a tent carpet makes it really snug and cosy. No draughts etc, yes bugs could still find their way in but i had no probs.

Hi Pollywoggle,

I'm sure you'll love it once you get the chance - they are really spacious and sleeping off the floor is a big bonus!! Do get an oversized groundsheet as special_k recommends - it does help to abate the draughts if you fold it up the sides a bit.

Special_k,

Thanks for the comment, we ended up doing a similar thing - we've just spent last bank holiday in Skegness - well, daughter loves it, lol - and I was amazed at the cost of the breathable groundsheets (especially when you're filling a 5m x 4.5m awning!! I ended up getting two pieces of the Kampa breathable underlay instead - £13 for 5m x 2.5m, because we use our old Vango tent carpet on top, too.

Having said that (and despite having enjoyed the 2 weekends in her) the wife and I have pretty much decided to put it up for sale to put towards a static van - I must be getting lazy in my old age!!

Thanks,
Scott

Scott

Before considering a static caravan go over to the statics forum!  There is a lot they can tell you about owning a static and most of it is not good :(
