Hi all.
My second question.
The Tardis has a snapped cable which lifts the roof. Its the short one to the n/s front. I have followed the advice on an older thread on the site and found that its snapped somewhere on the post its self. not at the tensioner end unfortunatly.
Does any one know how to replace the cable to where it attaches to the post???
Or can some one explain how the mechanisam actually works. eg provide me with a diagram?

Any help will be great.
Thanks.
Tony.

HI Eel I have a tardis too and one of my corners is starting to behave oddly so would love to hear how you fix it and wish you success!

If things don't go well, there's a bloke called Geoff Temple who posts on the conway owners club forum

http://www.conwayowners.org.uk/

He knows an enormous amount about the hardtops and the winding mechanism, people on there are very friendly and helpful.

Also there's a man called Graham Shuck at TVS in Bolton

http://www.tentvaletingservices.co.uk/

Use the telephone numbers not the email address, from what I can make out, Graham works about 30 hours a day, but is regarded as a considerable authority on the matter of all things Conway and very helpful.

One tip I can pass on from Geoff Temple is have a piece of 2x2 timber, 4 foot long, to support the roof on the broken corner.

Let me know how you get on! Good Luck, Claire

Just an up date for anyone who searches for the same problem in the future.
I have found and contacted a guy names Tony, who was the man employed by Conway at Apperly bridge near wigan. He was responsable for putting the tensioning cables into the conway folding campers. so he would be very helpfull for help on other issues.
His company is called.
T+M caravans.
they are based in Lancashire.

I have spoke to tony and booked my camper in for the repair. which is replace the cable and retension the whole system correctly.
he has quoted my £60 for the repair.:)
I have talked to him and mentioned the lack of advice on this issue and he said he is more than happy to offer help to anyone with problems regarding the conway campers.

His contact details are.

Hi
I have a Conway Tardis and have a problem with the roof. It seems to have dropped on one corner and will not stay up. The other 3 corners are fine. Can anyone advise what to do. Lost without my camper and love it to bits.

I would say one of the cables has snapped. there are 4 seperate cables which raise and lower the roof. if there are 2 of you when you go away. one of you can raise the roof with the handle while the other helps the roof up on the corner when raised you can wedge a pre cut piece of timber in place. but you will need to replace the cable. I would recommend you replace the 4 at the same time.
look back through this post for T and M caravans give him a ring and ask for his advice. he will help if he can.
Tony.

Hi Eelfreak, I will contact T & M for advice. Have you managed to replace your cables yourself? Are they expensive to purchase and where would i be able to purchase them from?
