difficult! start with soapy water then get more adventurous ,if its fat then a bleach spray will work but dont get a drop on the canvas ,spray the cloth not the window.better doing it flat than on the frame and as i say dont get any cleaner or soapy water on the canvas
we had strange stuff on ours it turned out to be fat as it was the kitchen window.the other windows are strange i presume age related in the mornings they are cloudy (milky looking) but go clear as the temp warms up
Could it be adhesive residue ( someone had a sticker on the plastic etc ) if so my OH swears by baby oil just put a small amount on a dry cloth and rub at the sticky patch then use warm soapy water to remove traces of oil don't wet to much.

thanks for info, i've been out there today with wd40, got some of it of but now think its the age of it 1981, but will try your ideas too.. will let you know how it goes! was thinking of trying plastic clearer that you use on soft top car windows too, lol
Gracious acetone, petrol People you don't like your windows then .
If its a large area thats sticky it could be the plastic degrading, been near some fuel or fumes or in the sun for a long time.?
Try Renovo window polish, it's made special for clear vinyl / plastic windows. It's not just a polish it renovates & protects, one small bottle will last years. Really brings up old or sun damaged windows as long as they haven't got to the brown & crispy stage.
Small spots use something like auto glyms sticky stuff remover or the baby oil.
Just taken your advice on the Renovo - £9.25 inc p & p from fleabay... We've got some seriously sticky gunk left on the window from the dealers (was a demo model so presume they had their £xxx sticker in the window)... Just told the OH, she's delighted that she can finally get to clean some camping windows properly? Sado.
thanks for advice all, there getting clearer, but they are brown and crispy aarrrhhh,
but it's an 1980 cownay colt, orange and brown so windows will match it, lol
slept in the garden weekend in it and although will now use a pump up bed in it, can't wait to get out and about in it. normaly a tenting family. now need to get a tow bar.
Hi Whoopie I would use Autogym Extreme tar remover perfect for the job not too much on a kitchen roll does the trick for ma on pathfinder plastic window.
