Hi, been a camper for many years, and been grateful for the sound advice  this forum has offered. I have been lurking on here rather than posting for some time. Need a bit of help now though.

I have two young uns and what to contiune in the great outdoors Decide to take the plunge and buy a trailer tent, after investigating all options, folding camper, motorhome, caravan. As it offers a little extra comfort than my 6 berth Outwell. Without the associated costs of the caravan.Your advice on here was great.

I've checked the unladen and laden wieght to tow a Sunncamp Holiday 240s (the one without the kitchen.) It seems to say on the sites that my 1.6 Zetec Ford Focus (09 plate) will pull it fine. However I have some very favourite sites across europe where the gradients to reach them can be as much as 1 in 3 or in exterme cases 1 in 2.

Will it be possible to drive these roads with a trailer tent and a ford focus 1.6? Never towed before you can see I'm nervous.

I would think you'll be fine. Just make sure you are in the right gear before you get to the steep bit. Lots of drivers leave it to late, even when not towing, to drop into 2nd or 1st and end up stalling.

There is a site http://www.whattowcar.com/, this will tell you if your car can pull safely, we used it and if nothing else it gave me a bit more confidence. I am sure you will find it will be fine, just spread the load evenly. Happy towing !! Clare

No problems - they are very easy to tow and the engine in your Focus has more than enough power to haul one. If anything the only thing you will notice is needing to brake more firmly and earlier - especially descending steep inclines.

Can't see any problems in normal use, but am a bit concerned about your mention of 1 in 3 gradients.

Most roads I've seen that are that steep have an "Unsuitable for Motor Vehicles" sign, and I think there is the potential for a stall and roll back scenario with an effectively brakeless (albeit relatively light) trailer pulling the car backwards.
