We are going away just for 2 nights (our folding van is only 2 berth when there are 4 of us)we dont want to struggle with the awning for such a short stay. I thought we could sleep 2 of us in our MPV. If we take the seats out of the back you can fit a blow up bed in no problem, also I can velcro some curtains up. Do you think this would cause a problem with the camp site? Thanks. :)

I wouldn't bother telling them. They'll probably find some health and safety regulation or insurance clause as to why you can't. What they don't know won't hurt them!

I don't see why it should cause a problem - just call it a campervan, that's what do! I often sleep in mine when I'm camping, though I do usually use the drive away awning as living space if it's for two nights or more. I'll probably be going to Angelsey this coming weekend for just one night and it will be quite late in the day when I get to the site and not even worth putting the small tent up so I'll be sleeping and living in just the mpv. What sort of mpv have you got?

Thanks both, we have a citroen picasso, I cant see it would be any different than a camper van. We dont tend to stay on sites with loads of rules any way so hopefully it will be ok,seems daft not to as it would save a lot of work. :)

By the time you've blown up the air bed you could have erected and pitched the awning. Not much of a time saver in my view and the problem solved regarding space.

Can't see any problem if you're using a Camping and Caravanning Club site - "Sleeping in private cars or vans with side and rear windows is allowed at Club Sites, provided that the vehicle has specially designated internal sleeping accommodation such as fully reclining seats and fitted curtains. A tent attachment for changing purposes must be erected whenever a car / van is being used for sleeping purposes".

Thanks everyone for your replies, Tango we would have to blow up the air bed any way to sleep on even if we put the awning up. Taking 3 seats out of the back of a car is much quicker than putting up an awning, especially when we have 2 autistic sons and need to make things as stress free as possible. I dont mind the hassle of the awning when we are staying longer but I just thought the car idea might do for a couple of nights.

I've just found this post!! Just wondering how it went and if you did sleep in your mpv?

We do exactly that, with a pop up tent attached with a tarp to the roof bars.

I also have an autistic son so know exactly what you mean by making things as stress free as possible!
