There is an alternative. Commonly known as Tinkers Paint, it is used by the Travelling Community and, if filtered through a fine mesh before spraying, can give very good (and very cheap) results.
You mix 75% of any outdoor gloss paint with 25% of exterior varnish, filter it and then, in your spray paint can mix 50% of the mixture with 50% of petrol.
For safety sake I suggest you get someone else to do the actual spraying while you stay about 3 blocks away , just in case. However I have seen the results of this method of vehicle spraying and I am impressed.
