Don't forget that it isn't just the weight of the TT that you have to consider. You will no doubt pack the trailer with all of your odds and sods which will increase the towing weight and the car will probably be packed with other essential equipment, all of which can and will affect braking/stopping distances and general road holding. It's always better to have a bit in reserve rather than be running at the max all of the time.
