Hi,

The side panel on my Countryman from the wheelarch toward the kitchen is very soft and moves when pushed :oS Assuming this is severe rot and only the aluminium skin and vinyl is keeping it together. Also, a bit of the aluminium skin has cracked. Can this be patch repaired from behind when fixing the rot or is it better to reskin totally?

Happy to replace this myself in the winter (plan to put it to the back of my mind and enjoy the summer!) but was after advice on how you dismantle. Is it a case of drilling out the pop rivets, wheel arch screws etc. until it comes free. Anything else to bear in mind?

The rest of the panels seem to be ok and the floor solid so will go about treating those with wood preservative. Any opinions on the best to use?

When putting back together, what have others done to prevent it happening again? Obviously ensuring the wood is treated and all places sealed. Can you also bond plastics over it or other new methods to keep out the rot or even use GRP instead of wood?!

Thanks for any help. If you have any photos or other stuff from when you did your repairs, e-mailing them to me would be a great help

Thanks

Look up posts on here by Frederico...he had worse problems than you and I think replaced both sides of his Crusader. He posted some great pics and fantastic advise regarding the best way to replace rotten panels.
