Hi have just purchased a new olmpe second outing and the wind as broken the main two slide out poles in the awning area, big gust of wind blew the awning back bending the two poles back and up causing them to bend and eventually snap.As any one else shrug-led to set up in windy conditions.Cheers Daz.
Sorry to hear that Daz, was this during set up? Ours is smaller, but we have struggled in windy conditions, the only damage was a pegging point though! We got the corner guys pegged very early on with delta pegs, which did keep the poles in place, as I said though ours is smaller. The canvas was a nightmare though, as fast as we put one peg in another whipped out. Is it going to be straightforward to replace the damaged poles?
Cheers Alison tent back in workshop now awaiting quote the olympe is pretty large and think when the wind gets up if you have to go for it and set it up a minimum of three adults are needed two to hold the awning and one to peg down getting the poles should'nt be a problem and the damage happened while two of us tried to set it up not anough hands to do evything..
Thanks colonel must admit the way the poles bent was abit surprising ,now they have to be light weight but may be a good idea to carry a set of spares.cheers.Daz
We bent one of these poles when putting away one time last year. We had unpegged and took guy ropes down and we were just about to slide in the two poles when a gust of wind caught the awning so they went over fully out. One was fine but other one was bent very slightly and still works fine but good to know we can get replacements. We now put four main guy ropes out loosely before raising the back and front poles out when setting up while constantly checking they don't get strained! Putting away we only take the four guy ropes out after the poles are slid in.
