We don't have the mud walls on the front... Can't say I've missed them or noticed that they were on the older models.... (ie there has never been a time when we've said, "wish there were mud flaps on there as that would fix a,b or c"). Can't think of anything hence, a,b,c.
Maybe they'd keep a bit of the wind out of the "awning"?
Unless they have a negative effect, I don't think I'd cut them off, as I wouldn't want to damage the canvas...
Just double checked... We have three straps on the sun canopy - two go through the spiked section of the pole? Are you missing these?
