Im having problems with the middle pole of the awning roof. The metal hooked part that hooks into the cabin keeps coming out of the plastic piece on the end of the pole when I am trying to get the awning up. Its difficult enough on my own (having practised, i can just about do it) without the whole pole falling out leaving the hool still attached to the cabin. Its also at the highest part that even with my little step ladder Im on tip toes. How do I get the hooked bit to stay in the plastic end of the pole? Its a 1997 Pennine Sterling.
We lower the whole cabin, zip on the awning, put in the poles into the plastic bits you're talking about, but we only put in the middle one, and the two outer ones. The ones in between we leave until a bit later as they kept coming out and hitting us on the head.
After we've inserted the three main poles we raise the whole cabin again, leaving the other end of the poles on the ground. Then we do the rest of the frame. Do you think that would help?
you really need to take the pole and plastic insert into a workshop or somewhere with a decent vice ,worst way a low brick wall will suffice ,insert the plastic sleeve into pole and then gently ping the outer wall of the steel pole with a centre punch and hammer ,this will form a small indentation into the pole and hold it in place till it needs replacing .using the likes of araldite etc will work but its a bugger to remove if it ever needs replacing
We had a broken hook and when we replaced it the new one kept falling out, so OH drilled a small hole through the pole and put a small bolt through. So next time he breaks it it should be simple to replace.

think you may have miss read it is the hook coming out of the plastic insert not the plastic insert coming out.
