Should be easy enough to replace the foam, with either new foam or how about the mattress toppers they sell at Ikea?

Do you have a proper expensive bike carrier or are you making one?  Would be interested in a photo if you're making your own, need to get OH onto that job.

Hi Kate, re bikes am making one, either with 23mm poles sliding over and clamping onto sides or using flat bottom u bolts and extra foot plates. Am going to see the lads in work re welding bottom plates (work in navel base). If it goes ok will post it on here.

We bought a nearly new/ hardly used concorde at the end of last season and  after the first night I thought we were going to have to sell it because my OH woke with a very stiff back, as the bed was too firm for him (we also have the bed slats)

We tried the airbed, which we had found very comforrtable in the tent, but this was a bit of a faff.

I bought two  odd sized pieces of memory foam from an online company. (If I recall correctly it was about £50 in total).  They cut them down to size, basically one larger piece for the 2/3 (ish) main mattress area, and the smaller piece to remove for the kitchen area to close.

We use these on top of the exisiting  foam mattress . OH said that made the bed  very comfortable, but (as is common with memory foam), he was too hot! So I invested in some coolmax sheets from M&S, and I think we now have it sorted.

It does cut down a little on the storage space though. As there are only two of us , I have removed the mattress from the "lid" side, so we are basically no worse off storage wise.

Enjoy your camplet!

Regarding bike racks,I have used a cheapo halfords one direct onto the bars, but it wasn't brill,so now I have a set of extra long clamp-on bars and the rack fits to that nicely.

Re bike racks.  I bought a bike rack which fits onto my tow bar, I cannot remember the make but I can tow the tent and the bikes on the rack no problem. It also means I can just take the bikes on the back of the car without the trailer on.#

Hi, I certainly don't want to teach anyone to suck eggs, but don't forget, if using a towbar mounted bike rack (even if it is not on the towball itself) the weight of the rack and the bikes should be counted towards total noseweight.

OH didn't bother with bike rack, placed towels under took 1 pedal off and strapped to lid, this was 2 bikes seemed to work ok. But he has since fixed plate across the lid, so nothing can scratch it. - handy having welder in family.. (doesn't affect under storage bag as I never attach it, the bags fill it out themselves.)

Hope this makes sense.. Have good hols!
