As wongers says if wider than your car you will need some, and they do definitely help on motorways especially

I have the Milano Aeros and they are very easy on and off and pretty stable at speed. Some very cheap versions vibrate like mad mad are as good as useless

peter

yes it is the ones that stick on the glass, for me they work well as my car mirrors are large so they don't block to much, and i can adjust them from inside the car.plus they are very stable.

one more thing they don't just press on,they work on a vacum so hold really well.

I use strap on ones on my Xsara Picasso. I had the stick on ones on the previous car (Berlingo Multispace) which were fine on the larger mirrors but not very good on the smaller ones.

I've got a Xsara Picasso as well, so it's great to hear of some towing mirrors that will fit.

When measuring the width of your car, do you need to include the wing mirrors, or just the car body?

The wing mirrors need to be a bit wider than the trailer behind so that you can see the rear corners of it and beyond.  Particularly when driving on the continent I prefer flat mirrors as vehicles seem to far behind with concave mirrors.

the inside edge of the cars mirrors need to be as wide as the unit you tow.

We use tiny wee bungee cords around the mirrors to anchor the mirrors on after a near disaster when one was dangling off as we drove along the motorway

We are, at present, on a 28 day tour of Northern Ireland and I am finding that our towing mirrors (Milano Aeros) are essential.

While I can see backwards okay with the car's mirrors, I cannot see what is coming up behind me and even going through bends in the road, there can be several cars on my tail that I cannot see with the ordinary car mirrors.

However, it is the drivers extended mirror that I use the most.

On the downside, our car, a Renault Scenic, has the car mirros mounted on the body and not the door and so every time I open the car door, this action causes the extended mirrors to knock the cars mirrors out of alignment and we have to remember to pull them back in before we drive off.

But yes, you will need extended mirrors.
