Hi.All. When we got our previous folding camper we got a winter cover with it the previous owner had used it so I am not sure how old it is and how  long they last for as we have used it for two seasons.We had a tree that gave off sticky sap and buds earlier in the season so we decided to keep using the cover to stop it damaging the transit cover on our new unit.Well the cover is now quite brittle if I can use that term and the other week when I was removing it the cover ripped like paper.We took it indoors and tried to repair it with a sewing machine it worked but one corner is now gathered up so we need to be very careful when handling it.My question is how long do these covers last and how long have you out there had yours.I am a bit sceptical about buying another one made of the breathable material although they seem to be the only one`s available and they are not cheap.Cheers.Alex

I wouldn;t buy anything that wasn't breathabkle as presumably you already have a transit cover which is waterproof. Two waterproof layers will undoubedly cause potential damp issues between the layers unless a good maintained airflow can be established.

I had it explained that the winter covers were more like dirt covers so for exactly the reasons you require one under a tree for example

We've had ours for five years ..

Used it the garage as a dust/protection cover ... and outdoors as a complete cover ... it extends right down to the bottom of your unit, with straps underneath; so offers much more cover than the transit cover.

We store our roofbox on a couple of planks sitting on the transit cover, then put the winter cover over the lot ... this creates a 'tent' for water to roll off and not collect in puddles ... also a great place to store the roof box without taking up extra room anywhere else!

We used to have a huge garage at the house we rented so it was no problem.

Now we store on the drive and all I do is winch the dolly wheel right up so any water that does fall on the cover runs off. I used to use footballs and all sorts of faff, no need.

Only had a slight damp problem and it was soon sorted.

Check occasionally.
