Anyone any recommendations for a decent awning light that can operate possibly from both 12v and 240v but certainly 12v as we wantthe option of not being tied to EHU having now tried it successfully!.

I see there are plenty of strip type lights of both LED variety and some 13 watt type strip lights, Both which I think would be fine on power useage from our 85ah battery ut really after some real world opinions

Any advice gratefully received and its for a Pathfinder awning so pretty big if that makes a difference!

i use 2 labcraft 12v 8watt fluorescent light tubes which have cable and a cigarette plug attached in my raclet trailer tent with large awning,these i can run off a 12v battery if camping non EHU but if im camping with EHU i run them both through one of these below which converts 240volts down to 12volts. 

Can't see picture (filters) but assume you are referring to an inverter?

Saw the twin 8w lamps when havinga  search lunchtime - do they give a decent amount of light?

Steve - you mean the LED rope lights? Have seen these mentioned but wondered if they gave off enough light as most LED lights are no where near as bright in actual lumens as their bright white appearance suggests

Might have to revisit that then as like the option of running a 6m length along camping awning edge. Presumably you mean fit a 12v plug to go straight into the 12v socket isnide the camper as there is one just inside the door?

I have one of these and also an add on extension strip as well. they are very bright and draw very little power. You can easily read with them. Heres the link on Ebay to the item. The extension can be found in the Ebayers shop. They just plug into each other, and you can add as many as you need.

We also have one of the strip lights above - very like the one from go outdoors.  It does the job perfectly.

I have made up my own using LED tape...

You can run it from a 12V battery or the mains PSUs they supply. Cool White is the most energy efficient/brightest but I prefer the warm white versions. There are tapes with more or less LEDs depending on how bright you need it to be. They even do dimmers and remote controls.

Anyway you could stick the tape direct to the poles etc. but what I have done is cut it down into sections and stuck it to ali channel. This acts as a heatsink and protects the LEDs from damage. I then have inline connectors that hook up to a loom in the TT with fixed switches making the install quick to deploy.
