using Eurostar is great
I was worried the first time I took my crusader(pathfinder) on the train, thought it would be a tight squeeze, how wrong was I, they load/off load you on the side of the carridge, but there is loads of room.
We were loaded on with the lorries & buses.
You definitely won't be on Eurostar! That would be tight with a car yet alone trailer ;)
Eurotunnel info useful though as have been on it with car but no trailer yet
Don't forget Tesco clubcard rewards can be used on Eurotunnel and you pay the same as if paying cash unlike many of the rewards, so you get true 3x value

Thanks for reminding me about that. Have a load of coupons somewhere. Hope they will be useful for next year :-)
Make sure you book early though, Booked my aug 2011 trip at the end of last year (using Tesco vouchers) trip booked then was £224 for car with roof bars and bikes,+ the folding camper. Same trip now is £326 and will get more as places run out.
tried to change my booking to an earlier time slot today, they wanted an extra £75..so gave that a miss.

Do check the expiry date on them aswell as they are valid for two years. Once you convert to Reward tokens they are then norma;lly valid for 6 months (you have to book within 6 months not travel)
Hi
From France ...
Toilets ... no better or worse than ours! Campsites are nearly always maintained spotlessly. Yes, some of the 'turkish' variety still exist ... but I've yet to find a campsite (in twenty years) where only turkish ones exist.
Driving ... radar traps are not used to pursue UK motorists (at present) ... not that you should ignore them and the limits they suggest ... they are usually positioned in places where it is sensible to observe the limit!
I've recently fitted an ALKO 300 stabiliser unit and it does a fantastic job ... not the semblance of a wobble, even when passing mega artics at eighty.
Shopping works in two main 'blocks' morning and afternoon/evening .. often a good break between ... so don't plan to shop between about 12.30 and 3, then you will be safe.
Think of storing your FC in France ... unless you plan to use it a lot in UK... we just do six weeks on the continent.
Glad you enjoying france at the moment. We store camper in garage and intend to use as much as possible wherever we can!! tied to school hols and 4 weeks max per year. Maybe one day (if they ever let us retire) we will be able to do longer trips in europe. Thanks for the info and enjoy the rest of your trip.

we are now back from our first trip to France with our pathfinder. It was great fun. Roads (tolls) were so clear and easy to tow on though you do have to factor in the slower speeds you are restricted to when calculating your travelling time. At almost 20mph under the top speeds (90km an hour on N/A roads) it does take longer than expected to get to your destination!
Watch boarding and leaving ferries though and go really slow over the ramps. We grounded a little going on board and found that we were minus a foot for a steady when we got to the campsite though not sure where and when we actually lost it. Going really slow over the little bit that links the ferry to the ramp works.
No problems on site with the FC at all and it made us realise that we need to take longer breaks in our camper as it is really made for this lol.
Sounds great - we're planning on taking ours next year - we had already paid for our keycamp caravan when we'd bought the crusader, or we'd have done it this year.
we are considering taking our Dandy to France next year, being able to tow at 80 in fine weather on the motorways should make getting long distances covered easy.I hope the £ strengthens against the € in the next 12months.
Glad you enjoued your trip to france. really excited now, we are off tomorrow. Sailing on the new p&o ferry spirit of britain. Looks nice on the website. Thanks for the tips about boarding etc.
