hi , im looking for some help for drying my matress , my son had a night time accident so i thought id be smart and give it a good scrub ,and now im having awfull trouble drying it !! i have had it hanging over a convector heater for a few days now but each time i check it it seems dry on the surface but if i stand on it then it is still wet when pressure is applied ,just wondering if anone on here has any tips?
Try using a hair dryer on it as it will be a bit more direct. Also if you can put it ouside to dry, wind and sun combination should help. If it is the sponge type it could take a couple of days to completely dry out.
thanks shirley , im going to have to try the hairdryer i think as dry days are becoming a VERY rare treat in these parts lately !! its been wet for over a week now and its starting to not smell so good ! so going to have to kick on with something different than what i've been doing .
you need to get some of the water out,do you have access to a hoover, that will suck water?if not you could lay it flat and place towels on it then walk on top of the towels to pull some of the water out.

I scrubbed clean a mattress like this once and it worked very well. Use bio washing powder with a tablespoon of bicarb of soda. Use a scrubbing brush and clean, then rinse. Then - put the mattress on the floor and cover with old towels and walk/tread all over it - your body weight will help to squeeze the water out into the towels and soak up the excess water. Then it just needs to dry. Depending on what's inside it might take a week, maybe more. I did this with a foam mattress once and I thought it was never going to dry out. It did in the end though.
thanks guys ,will be trying the towels now today , it spent annother night over a heater and its quite a bit dryer but my heels still get damp when i tread on it. its a foam mattress so i guess its just a bit of patience needed now , thanks for all the tips guys
