Hi, I've been looking at the site for months now. Finally plucked up courage to ask for input. On returning from a very successful Eurocamp Hol in France last summer, I decided to buy a trailer tent on ebay and off we go next year!! I always went camping as a teenager with my parents and decided that my kids are going to share the same experiences( The memory of my dad out in gales trying to stop the tent blowing away on the Isle of Wight in the mid 1970's I've not shared with them, or my husband who thinks this camping lark is another of my great ideas that will last 5mins!!!) Our 12 year old son has very severe physical disabilities and we will need to camp at family sites with good wheelchair access and showers etc. etc.plus I will need to keep my 8 ( going on 18) daughter busy as well. Any ideas from anyone  plse

Hi Gill and welcome to the site.

Perhaps you could repost this thread on the "GENERAL DISCUSSION" forum as well, as I'm sure you'll get more response.

There are quite a few members with relatives with disabilities so I'm sure they'll be able to advise you .

To check out campsites and their facilities http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/ try here. We also have several rallies throughout the year to which you would be more than welcome to come along. You can check these out here. http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/events/

I'm sure the whole family will love camping once you get started and a trailer tent is ideal. All we need now is the better weather to come along!!

Aileen

We have found that the caravan clubs own sites always have excellent disabled facilities and they are very good at putting you on a pitch suitable for your needs. Lots of sites have good facilities but as a group the caravan club can be relied on.

Hi Gill, welcome to Ukcampsite.co.uk and a happy and healthy New Year to you and your family!

I am sure that Angie Gardiner at Caravannable can be of great help to you. Angie started the website in order to help others to find camping/caravan sites that have a minimum of facilities for people with disabilities. Not sure about the lovely warm summer this year, but I can guarantee that you will always get a warm and friendly welcome on here summer and winter!
