Hi everyone, I would like to know if anybody has any experience with any of these Trailer tents. I used to have a Caravan which I enjoyed, but due to circumstances, (divorce), I am now looking at trailer tents so that I can continue my camping holidays here and in France. My preferences would be for something that would easily be towable by a Ford Fusion 1.4 Diesel. All help would be very much appreciated.
Regards, Alan
PS. Information regarding other trailer tents that are not too large and are fairly easy/quick to erect would also be helpful!!!!
Hi Alan, I tow my french made trailer tent which wieghs 350kg unladen with a 1.4 renault scenic, And an uncle of mine tows his with a 1.3 petrol fiesta, So you will not have any problems towing a T.T with your car.
Hi Wayne, thanks for the Info. What type of trailer tent do you have, I'm looking for a not to large, fairly quick erecting type, ( type I've chosen so far are as Post Heading )any ideas?
My t.t is a messager , french make i think, I have just bought a 1995 conway clipper dl with kitchen fitted on the back for £430 and its in great nick, And its so light i forgot it was attached to the car on the way back, You can get them without kitchen so it would be even lighter, but most conways are light anyway and very easy to put up.
welcome to the site. I generally go camping on my own and bought the Combi Camp in 2003. It's a cracking unit, as it takes less than 5 minutes to erect on site as a stand alone unit.
You can put an awning up aswell if you are staying longer than say a weekend. This is a bit trickier with just one person, but no worse than any other TT.
Also have a look at the Trigano Arpege which is the same concept. I think the Solena is again this type of TT. They really are so easy to erect with just one person.
All three of these manufacturers have good quality canvas, and are well made.
I had a Raclet Minto 2 years ago. I was very impressed with it. It is the smallest trailer of the raclet range but not a small tent. Towing with your 1.4 desiel should be fine. It used to take us an hour to get it up. There are about 20 pegs in all. We have been to France in it and it is very easy and stable to tow. We bought an extra mid section too when we had extra people. A good tent for the money. Note storage inside the trailer is limited due to size bit we put our things on top.
Thanks Gray and David, more ideas for me to ponder. I shall have a look around at these and see what is available. David, I like the Minto, and it is still there as a possibility, my only concern being erection and folding times for overnight stops, and also as you mentioned, lack of storage space.
hi ive had two raclet solenas great for yourself, easy to erect & very quick to erect. i towed with 14.00 saxo no problems, the cabanon venus is also werth looking at.
I have a combi camp for sale - up in seconds and no pegging unless you put the sun canopy up - great for weekends - and its on the freeads here and ebay - blue & grey.....
we have a Raclet Solena 2 berth trailer tent, perfect for one or two, very large comfortable double bed, lid becomes floor for main unit, good storage under bed and large storage box on the front. For overnight stops use main unit, or add the awning or sun canopy for longer stays, we use electric hook up box so can use blow heater, small fridge, kettle etc.
Main unit can be put up in five minutes by one person, awning zips on very easy
we tow with Citroen Saxo diesel 1.5 very easily. we are selling it for £1000 with hookup if anyone interested. Littlehampton area
