Re the food packing etc...we often unfold our fc just before we go(not setting it up properly) and pack the fridge etc as we don't have loads of room in the car, esp if we take the dog.
For us the main advantage over a caravan was storage, as we can store a fc at home, no storage fees and we know it's ok, and towing..have seen a few caravan accidents..scarey. We've holidayed with friends with caravans and they are very envious of our beds in the camper.
Disadvantages, I agree with what everyone else has said re the drying out but we have always managed...and it's not the drying out of the camper that worries me cos we can put it up on the drive, it's the awning! Space wise, with the awning up we have plenty of space. Having said that I still look at caravans sometimes and wonder about getting one cos there are no draughts!
