Hi All
Following a recent camping trip i noticed rain was not repelling from the canvas as it should , instead the water was penetrating the canvas. therefore i decided to weather proof the canvas
I cleaned the canvas prior to weatherproofing after reading reviews i decided to use the following cleaner 'isabella caraven awning cleaner' i applied this product strictly as per manufacturers recomendation.
I then applied 5ltr of of fabsil to the tent for application purposes i ensured i followed the manufacturers recomendation and allowed the tent to dry as per manufactirers insrtuction
i then tested the canvas using the spray mist from the garden hose to best replicate rain however to my horror water was not repelling, it was clearly soaking into the canvas in desperation i purchased yet another 5l of fabsil and applied this once again as per manufacturers recommendations.
no test was caried out at this time as i assumed 10ltr of fabsil would be sufficient, we used the TT recently and during our caming trip it rained and guess what.......... water did ot repell it was just soaking into the fabric
What am i doing wrong? do i really need to apply more fabsil it would mean 15ltr of fabsil would be applied to the bedding part of the canvas alone !, great for Grangers but not for my pocket!
Please amy advise would be greatly appreciated
