Hi Everyone.

We are looking at purchasing a trailer tent, possibly off of Ebay.

Can you please tell me any particular ones to look out for and ones to avoid.

I absolutely love the look of the Pennnine Pathfinders and Pullmans but they are well out of our price range!

We have our eye on the Sunncamp 400se trailers as we are a family of 5 and they look quite big.

Another thing i like is the idea of having the 2 beds inside with the sofas and table that double up as a 3rd bed so if you can suggest any that would be suitable i would be very grateful!

Will keep you updated with our future purchase!

Many thanks in advance

Ange x

Sunncamps are big.
There are lots of older folding campers on ebay so don't let age put you off as you just might find one in your price range.
Raclets are very well made, but don't have the inside features you want.
Happy hunting!

Don't forget the Conways, they are another version of fc and almost the same as the Pennines, and  have trhe same facilities.

if you want something that has a table and chairs that can be made into a 3rd bed, then usually that would be a folding camper, not a trailer tent. I am not saying that to be pedantic, but because if you are putting trailer tent into search engines you are likely to see fewer results that interest you.

In general FCs are slightly pricier than TTs, but as has been said, if you are after a bargain, well looked after older models will give you years of happy camping. As well as ebay there are lots of adverts on this site, there's preloved, gumtree, and there are items for sale on the conway owners site

http://www.conwayowners.org.uk/

Condition is everything with used models so make sure you see it up and get a demo of how everything works wherever you buy it from.

how about a transcamper you can actually sleep seven in it without underbed tents and some have a lot of extras in them  a good one should be between £600 and £1000 depending on extras fitted and camping gear sold with it. it sort of fills the gap between a tt and fc.

Thank you for all your advice. I don't just want to bid on one straight away, i would like to view it first.

I have been looking at folding campers too but i don't think they will fit in our garage so may have to stick with a trailer tent.

Please Please do not buy a TT or FC from Ebay without viewing it first. With the best will in the world it is not possible to accurately describe the condition of the canvas. What is good in one persons eyes is rubbish in anothers. Any seller worth their salt would put the trailer up for you to view, and then you would know exactly what you are buying. There are numerous stories on forums such as this from people who were disappointed with a purchase because they didnt take the trouble to view first.

I'll go along with that. We recently sold a VERY old tt and the buyer refused to have it put up as it was raining. Luckily for him the canvas was sound but I was utterly gobsmacked.

I'M SORRY! After weeks and weeks of saying exactly this to my Hubby we went and bought a Sunncamp 500 on Ebay last night!

Off to collect it tomorrow, have not paid yet and won't pay either if it's a load of rubbish! It looks amazing and the guy said there is only 1 small repair in the canvas that has been made but other than that it's fine but we will find out in the morning and i will keep you posted!
