I am sure that it would have been easier to treat if it was the inners as you may have to rewaterproof if you treat the canvas.
I had a small patch on the inners when we bought ours 5 years ago, I removed the inner and treated the area with milton, this kills the mildrew. I have not had any problems since. You may be able to to the same on the canvas. I am sure someone will be along to give you more advise.
Milton (dilute 1 part Milton with 10 parts water)will kill the spores, but the marks where the mildew is will still be there, you will not remove those.Afterwards reproof with Fabsil.
Didn't you notice it had mildew before you bought it.

Unfortunately no. Bought on ebay and although it said "some" mildew on inside of canvas we weren't expecting as much once we got it home. Although the canvas is in very good nick for it's age and no rips and tears. 1st time ever bought something on ebay and will be the last!!
I had a bad attack of mildew over the winter.
Bought Sudbury Mildew and Canvas Stain remover .... from an American company ... search and find one that will send it ... not all will ... it cannot be air freighted due to content so will take about three to four weeks to get to you ... but it is fantatsic ... so if nothing else works ... that's your 'fall back' scenario.
We re-proofed with Isabella re-proofer ... Isabella canvas cleaner is great for general outside stains etc ... but won't help with the mildew/mold problem.
We purchased our Pathfinder from Ebay saving about £1500 on dealers prices it has turned out to be an exellent buy .We also had mildew marks on the awning ,we removed it completly with Dettol mould and mildew remover just spayed it on the mouldy area leave for 10 minutes wash out well a bit of reproofing and it was like new again. Some people go into meltdown when the word mould is mentioned as far as I am concerned its nothing to worry about and is very easily removed ,as long as the canvas is sound then no problem.
Yes, I have been assured the mould/mildew is old. I can also vouch that the canvas is probably the best part of the FC - absolutely no rips, tears, patches at all.
We bought an old (1997) Pennine Pullman on ebay last year - the cabin canvas roof has lots of mould marks but I wiped it over with dilute milton (just in case) and you can't see it when all the inners are up.
I did wonder if I would be able to live with it as we had previously had a practically new Fiesta but I have got used to it. It really isn't the end of the world, although I do know how you feel.

Yeah, I think I'll get used to it! I just don't like to think we didn't get value for money, especially when money is so hard to come by these days!
We also can't see it when the inners/curtains are up. So I think I'll stop moaning and make the best of it! Hubby said we can trade up next year
Chelsea girl - we hope to trade up to a motorhome next year so we don't have the bother of drying the canvas etc. Hubby thinks we'll get away more often - why have you got an FC when you already have a motorhone?
