Hello, I am brand new to camping and am going to view a folding camper today (private sale) It is a Pennine Pullman the chap selling It has told me its about 10 years old, but the colour is burgundy and a tent salesman has told me they stopped making them in this colour about 15 years ago. The camper is supposed to be in immaculate condition only used 7 times from new and is £800 but without an awning. Am I doing the right thing buying this. Help !!
I could be corrected but I thought the burgundy models may have been 1999-2000ish. You may find it very difficult to get an awning, I would hang fire and buy one with an awning.
IMHO I would'nt have thought anyone one would have used a camper so few times

How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
He seems quite genuine, and says It hasn't even stretched properly over the poles yet and the canvas is still tight (don't know what that means) We aren't that bothered about an awning as will mostly be using It for weekends and one night stays , just wondering If the price is right If It is immaculate, and how to tell the genuine year. If It is 15 years old Is £800 too much? And what t o look out for when viewing It.
He says it is simular to this code in ebay 260834099194.
which is a 1996 model.
Thanks any help appreciated as we are going to see it at 4
today.
Ebay, pretty serious money for something of that age me thinks.

HERE is the last lot of completed sales from Ebay. You will see a 91 with awning went for £750.
If you are only going to use it for a one/two night stay then probably you would not need the awning, but what happens if you decide to go for a week, then you would get the benefit of having one. Personally I would not buy one without the awning, and I suspect most people would look to have one.
£800 yes to much IMO

Thank you, I have seen the completed listings the one we are going to see is supposed to be in immaculate condition, (not on ebay ), we will have to view now as they are putting it up for us to see. Not sure what to do now, we won't rush into It now ,Thanks any way
just a small point, him saying the canvas has not even streched yet is just plain wrong.the canvas will shrink not strech,so if you are unable to extend the bars now,it won't get better, unless you put the time in to restrech the canvas.
as to the price.it seems steep for a fc without awning.

Put my 2penneth on his other post. The dealer we bought ours from said to us NEVER ever get rid of our awning just because we do not use it as the re-sale value plummets. So with our 6 weeker coming in Sept 7th the awning of our Fiesta is already out into shed till winter then we will bring it inside. But will not be selling it. Love ours its the freedom and they are bigger tahn people realise are they not Wongers. Caravans with canvas roof yet bigger than most as the beds are kept made up
Thanks for all your advice, we viewed the camper today and although it was excellent condition for its age it turned out to be 21 years old (thanks to this site today I learned how to tell this from the chassis number) so we are going to hold out for a newer one with an awning .
I'll keep looking :)
hmmm you might have missed a bargain ,although i would have offered something £500 for it ,we have a older pullman and there made to last ,just depends how much work your capable of doing on it,generally 92-94 models go with awning for around the £1500 area if in good condition
Hi Black fox, you've got me wondering now have I done the right thing, I don't know if they will budge on price but do you think its worth £500 without awning It was excellent condition the canvas with extremely good.
Do you know how long the guy has been trying to sell it for.

No I advertised for one and he called me, Iv just rang him he won't budge on price so Im going to forget that one now and try to get one with an awning around the same price.
Thanks for all your advice :)
At the end of the day it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks if it is right for you, personaly I wouldn't buy a FC or TT without an awning and I suspect the majority on this knowledgeable site would say the same, but, if it is in good condition, a fair price and what you want then go for it. I would certainly try to get him to drop the price though just on the fact that he was so far out with its age. Its suprising how much equipment you will "need" when you get a new toy so every little bit helps.
