Most sites have early leaving times so they can check the area etc for the next arrivals. It is a bit stupid when there are plenty of spaces, but if busy it makes sense. A plan is a plan and must be kept to !. We find it a bit of a chore to start packing up the night before and having to get off site at around 10 in the morning. This means not much drinking the night before and fairly early to bed. Now we book an extra night, pack leisurely up in the morning, and leave when we want during the day. Also if its a wet morning (we have heavy duty canvas TT), we have the option of waiting until the following morning. For the extra nights cost, for us it is worth every penny.
some sites will allow you to stay on late at a small cost. but you normally have to check either the night before or the morning your due to leave.

The CC site I stopped at near Pickering this year seemed to take a reasonable attitude on this. As it's heavily used by weekenders they were happy with late departures as long as there was space for any arrivals on the Sunday.
I think 10am is too early. Off by 12 on for 2 is reasonable and 2 hours should be plenty long enough to cut grass, clear rubbish & dog mess etc. (some don't bother)
I think most of the sites I have been on have had an 11.00am or midday departure and I have yet to see anyone checking pitches as a normal routine. Arrival is normally midday as well...2pm sounds a bit late to me...by the time you have pitched, most of the first day will have gone!
I rarely drink much the night before departure...prefer a clear head when driving. I am usually up by 8 and away by 10 in any case so an earlier departure time would not worry me too much unless it was showery and I was waiting for my tent to dry. It might be worth paying a late stay fee then.
However, on one site many years ago now, I recall being hassled to leave because another person was waiting for the pitch. It wasn't late either. That did annoy me a bit.

if i ever had this i would pack up and just sit on the pitch till kick out time, this is the sort of thing that can wreck a good hoilday.

We don't have set arrival/departure times as we are only a small site so it isn't usually a problem. Our earliest arrival one Saturday morning was 9.15. I had to make the lady a cup of coffee while she waited for the tent to arrive in another car!
------------- Visit Llandrindod Wells! Great scenery, walks, cycling, red kites. Ideal for exploring Mid Wales.
For weekend trips we tend to look for sites that don`t rush you off if they have room, we can`t get there till around 7pm on the Friday and its a very short weekend if we have to be off for 12am or earlier. If we do have to be off we make sure we are packed up and on our way before the allocated time.

Clear dog mess? I would hope that any responsible dog owner would clear up after their own dogs, and not leave it for others to pick up! That is so disrespectful and unhealthy.

(Brighton to Dumfries on Tues night)
What happens if it rains that morning? Do you stay until you have a dry start?
I was at a campsite last week with a vacating time of 11 am and an on time of 2 pm at 10.15 during packing up the next camper that was going to use the pitch turned up and started pitching his tent And unpacking around all my stuff .nothing like getting your holiday started early!
