Hi does anyone have any tips on how to get the roof of my comanche montanta awning taught? We are able to put it up with little difficulty after lots and lots of practice and it looks quite taught until it rains!!! We then get a swimming pool effect on the roof! Hats off to the waterproof because it doesn't leak despite holding approx 100 gallons after a torrential down pour one night !!!! I got up to check everything was ok to find the roof almost touching the floor with the weight of the water. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Denise
Ps thank you to everyone who helped solve my leak we are now dry again! Until the awning collapses !!! ;0)

Are you using guy lines? We use them on ours and it stays very taut.

Hi thanks for reply. Not sure if you got my last reply so will try again. yes we are using guy ropes. I think the fact that we seem to have a mish mash of awning poles doesn't help. Should the awning be sloping up or down form the TT? Also although I love my TT the manufacturer doesn't seem to have paid much attention to detail. Is it just me who thinks this?
Thanks
Denise

We had a Montana for 7 years and never experienced water pooling on the awning roof.If the roof was nearly touching the floor with the weight of the water then something is drastically wrong with the way it has been put up.

There is plenty of adjustment in the poles to get the canvas taught.

The main thing we didn't like was the skirts that fitted on to the trailer and lid when it was open, tbh I thought they were an after thought, very poor.

It sounds like you may not have the right poles then. You could try contacting CombiCamp who are the main agents now. They used to sell Comanche years ago, then I think it was Barrons who took over the franchise and went out of business, and CombiCamp have picked it up again. So they have many years experience and lots of spares.

Yes I can say the canvas is very good after a week of rain a few years ago,......have you taken the play out of the three roof bars that come from the trailer tent, I use one of them hercules gadgits to pull it out some more.

Not sure how you get loads of rain staying on top

Andy
