Only one must have, slatted beds. There is an optional raised bed base too. A sun canopy is nice. If I had the choice,I would have a Royal with its peaked canopy and higher kitchen (although the Concorde is available with a Royal kitchen.) A front box is good, but not a camplet one! Bike racks seem a bit pointless,as do camplets own insulation mats. Amazingly,a jockey wheel is an option! If you find lifting difficult then the gas assisted strut models are better, which rules out older units. As for strength and durability, the framework and canvas are great, but the little things like pole clamps and wingnuts let it down a bit.All Isabella stuff too. The trailer is pretty much rot proof,I know glass fibre can suffer from osmosis, but i have never heard of it with a Camplet. With Owaynes bit of research, you should easily tow it up the Alps!

You'll just about be OK with an unbraked 500kg trailer on a Diesel (absolutely fine if the Camplet has brakes - not one I know I'm afraid)).
For unbraked trailers the maximum actual weight must be no greater than the lower of the vehicle manufacturer's towing limit or 50% of the kerbside weight of the tow vehicle.
Looking at the usual source (http://www.cuddles.abelgratis.net/audi.htm) a 1.4TDi A2 Kerbside Weight is between 1020kg (2005 on 75ps model) and1113kg (2001-2004 model).
You also want to make sure you don't exceed the max noseweight which Cuddles quotes as 50kg. That shouldn't be a problem with such a light trailer though.
