Hi all

I am getting a 1999 Conway Challenger folding camper just wondering will i be ok towing with a 2004 focus 1.6?

I have checked that its within the 85% rule but just wondering if anyone else tows with a Focus and how it handles towing?

Hi, we tow a conway countryman with our c max 1.6 and it handles very well. We have towed in UK and france with no problems.

My 1.6 focus is a great little towcar,but I only tow a small tt. If you make sure that the brakes are ok on the fc,I'm sure it will be fine.

I've checked the spec on the Conway challenger and ex works weight is 400kg and a max of 600 kg

 It will be fine,I'm sure. I assume it's braked? If not,it's still well within limits,just takes a bit more anticipation when slowing down.

Should tell you in the focus handbook what maximum nose weight and tow weight are.

I think the max tow weight is 1200kg if it is manual and 1000kg if it is automatic.

I think the max nose weight is 75kg.

same unit same car as ours we also used the car to tow our Sunncamp 400

Though you do have to keep the revs high to get the torque. We tow a TT all the way to the Vendee with our Focus and it's absolutely fine.

Just changed my 53 plate 1.6 lx focus. Towed a Pennine Sterling to Devon ok. Heavy on the fuel in that area very hilly but towed very well. Rick
