Many Thanks everybody for your replies. You've given us alot to think about. We'll start looking on the internet at the models you've mentioned and try to find dealers where we can go to look at them before we buy.

Special thanks to you Chrissie as your own set up has given me hope that even if my husband is unable to get full mobility back we would still be able to manage some sort of camper.

All the best, mynanny2

Hello
Thanks for this Chrissie, I'll start looking at the ads. Can you tell me if these folding campers are easy to tow and can they be stored on their sides. We live in South Yorkshire but don't mind how far we go for a camper at the right price and condition.

Margaret

Sorry Margaret

Forgot to say the towing of either t.t or fc are dead easy. Low level you do not have drag like a caravan would. So it is cheaper also as it is lighter as well as lower. Although I have not towed it with this car i did do the other campervan and it was a doddle. You can always go onto the CC&clubs driving course heard a lot of good about them teaching you no matter how scared they will take you through it. I would like to try them myself especially for reversing purposes. As Bob is a terrible passenger and will be the first to admit it. You never know if your the one that has to take over at any time. It happened to me when Bob had a navel hernia done that went wrong. he had to be a passenfer for all of 8 solid weeks. Lovely. But he did not care much at the time as he could did not feel like ti anyway.

Just a note. I saw the Olympe at the NEC. It is massive for 2. The Odyssey is smaller. One thing to note with both these, and the camplet range, is the awning is integral. Thats great for quick pitching, but make sure you have room to open it up at home to dry it out. The Olypme is about 5meters square when open.

Raclet Quickstop is like a cross between a FC and TT. You can use just the cabin, and keep the kitchen inside, unlike TT's, but other than that and 2 bench seats, there is nothing else in it, just like the TT.  I bought a 2001 version. The cabin is v.quick to put up, but I have  found the awning takes a litle practice.

The Trigano Alpha was at the NEC and for 2 people, I think it is ace. Similar to the Raclet Solena above, with a hard top that becomes a hard floor. But the Alpha can have a rear awning handy for wardrobe/toilet, as well as the main awning, if you are stopping for a longer break. I don't know if Raclet offer that versatility.Good luck.

Hi Chrissie
I will be leaving the towing to my other half,we used to have a caravan some years ago so he's used to it. I do drive but I'm not a confident driver.

Hi Nicksy
Thanks for this info, I'm beginning to think the Olympe is abit big for 2. I just want to have something easy to tow and be up off the ground fot sleeping in plus comfortable in the evening for watching tv with a nice glass of wine.

Didn`t know Racet was under the umbrella of Trigano.

Griff

Other way round. (Sort of). Trigano MDC the big multinational own several brands including Raclet, Trigano TT, Jamet etc. Jamet make their own, but Raclet make and rebrand the Trigano tents and FCs.
