Hi.
We haven't yet managed to find a Dandy, but we are looking for a Destiny, as there are 2 adults, 2 children, and 2 babys.
We have seen one for sale for £1700 in pale blue. As I understand it, the pale blue models are better for build quality etc, which I'm happy to hear, as the brown ones are a little dated, and dark blue ones are out of our price range.
Could anyone give us a list of questions we should ask before buying. The Dandy we have seen is a 5 hour drive, so really don't want to waste all that time, fuel, and sanity(all 6 of us in the car), only to find, it's a lemon. The pics look good though, and it looks clean and tidy. It doesn't have a Dandy awning, but it has a canvas one with it.
The ad doesn't state what year it is, but I'm getting in touch with the owner tomorrow night via a phone call.
The Q's I already have wrote down are:
1: What year is it (the Dandy of course, not literally what year is it?)
2:Is it fully winterised?
3:has it got gas struts fitted?
4:are there any tears in pvc?
5:Is the floor solid, (no bounce/spongieness)?
6:has it got skirts?
Thank you in advance for any help.
Regards.
Kriston

Kriston

Its a bit difficult to talk on an open forum about specific dandys have you looked at our forum http://www.dandycampers.org/

There is loads of info on there especially if you join as then you can see the pictures of destiny's for sale, things like the awning need to be thought about as you are unlikely to get one later.

Look on Yahoo groups for dandyowners. Excellent advice. You seem to have all bases covered. You could put off until spring though as thee will be many more for sale then. As you are in Cheshire, why not have a run out to see Ian at Riva in Wigan? You'll get a cuppa & he'll tell you all about them with no hard sell. Well worth the visit, he'll show you how to put them up & down too.

We went to see Ian at Riva Dandy today, and fell in love with the dark blue Destiny, but at £6k+ it's slightly over budget. Just wondering whats going to come first. A couple of grand winnings on the lottery, or a light blue 6 birth.
Regarding the Dandyforum, already signed up to that one too.
Fingers crossed for both :)

Things will pick up early Spring. Keep an eye on the Riva site, eBay, Preloved as well as ads on here. You'll get one.
