True ,competition is wonderful, that's why our gas and electric is so cheap!Speaking of a dealers monopoly position,Go to Jail seem apt for many.I will buy privately
next time,I cant imagine that I will ever buy new. Did you get your Trigano from our local friendly dealer,Griff?
Saying I would buy from X because their after sales customer service is good, but I would not buy from Y because their after sales customers service is terrible.
Saying that X really wants to help, but Y does not.
DaveWr, I can`t see how my original question or comments as above would have legal consequences?
SGThomas, I would like to think that competition would keep dealers on their toes.
Miserly, I assume you did not have a good experience with the local friendly dealer?
People need to be thoughtful. Comments on here about a company performance or non-performance can be taken as libel, as they are published in a public forum. Also I don't think Ratty would like his forum to be used in that manner.

I think you will find that this kind of topic is on the go a lot on the caravan forum, where people name and shame dealers, and also recommend good ones. Don't think I have ever seen a topic be removed.

------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Sad world if we can't comment on our experiences as consumers.Plus,of course,to be libellous, the comments would have to be proven untrue.I have had good and bad experiences with my local dealer,Camperlands, and I'm not too fond of Casey's either!
So,in the unlikely event of a lottery win,I will go abroad,or if I can overcome the language barrier,Black Country Caravans!
I like Caseys for a wander around and having seriously viewed an FC there once, found that they were very helpful but then I like going there just for the cakes in the cafe next door lol.
I don't like Camperlands as I find that unless you want to buy brand new they really are not very helpful. It is different if you are looking at new though!!!
We bought our Solena from Camping World at Horsham, which was a nice smooth transaction with a good demo and handover, thanks to Phil who gave us some useful tips.
When we decided to buy the bedroom annexe, we ordered online from OBI Camping at Cowbridge who offered the best price. The service was excellent, particularly from Sarah when we had a problem with a faulty pole on delivery.
What I did find rather disappointing was the fact that, having emailed all 8 UK dealers listed on the Raclet UK website, 4 didn't bother to reply at all and 2 others replied that they didn't have one in stock and referred me to Raclet. Obviously, they don't need the business!
We bought our trailer tent at Camperlands second hand and they couldn't have been more helpful. Proper demonstration of how to put it up with lots of tips, went and searched out an old manual for a similar model, advice on towing and really pleasant and helpful. We've been back with a couple of minor problems and had them sorted out with no charge.
------------- A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools

No not really true, libel would be difficult to prove ona public forum unless its malicious and untrue and "provably" so. You are right that people need to be thoughtful though
We had OK service from Burcroft Camping .and had no need to call on after sales so can't really say more than that. Yhey delivered what they promised and handover was fine and they spent some time with us. Can't ask for any more than that. They were also quite honest anout any issues with the camper and directed us to some damp on another Pennine that was appropriately priced so seemed pretty trustworthy
Viewed round Tony Wilds but nothing to report there apart from its a nice location right next to Woburn Abbey, so great for a day trip out!
