So long as it falls within the car manufacturers towing limit and you are sensible about what weight you add in the car i dont see it being a problem, you may need to work the gears up hills.

hi
if your max is 600kg then the unit empty will be under 500kg,if you don't have an awning and pack it light, you will be somewhere around 520kg max,and your car should cope fine with that.
did do a search and the lowest max tow weight for a 5 door i could find was 750kg,but as said above you need to check your car.there will be a plate on it with the max tow weight, good place to look is under the bonnet on the fire wall.

You need to check the plate but if it is a 2002/3 fiesta 1.3 then I think the max tow weight is poor at 100kg.

Probably the same site as says my car cant tow, funny that because fiat say it can, they make a tow bar for it and the main dealer fits them, ignore internet sites go by your manufactures details,i have seen the 100kg on one site and on another it says it cant tow.

Thanks for you replys yes mike I have been on a few sites they dont seem to know what they are on about had a quick look today at the vin plate under bonnet said around 750kg the challengers only way 450kg then 150kg for luggage all we carry is the normal stuff dont have the awning anyway as they are Quite heavy so I reckon we will be only towing round 500kg so should be fine the car does seem to pull well and much better up hill than our last car which was a daewoo lanos think if we had towed wi that we wouldf have killed it quicker

Whats the nose weight limit of your car?

When towing its not just the max weight but also nose weight which is the max down force (weight) that can be applied to the tow bar.

I had a 1.6 Cee'd and that only had a 55Kg nose weight.

as the max nose weight that will be required will be 42kg,and thats 7% of 600kg,can not see nose weight being an issue.

Does the Challenger have brakes?

With most cars, the max weight for towing an unbraked trailer is a lot lower than for a braked trailer - it's usually the limit for a braked trailer that's quoted on the VIN plate.

Safe towing is as much about being able to stop as it is about going at a reasonable speed and getting up hills.
