Now that we have a Raclet Solena TT, we've been thinking of joining the CC next year to broaden our options (we are already in C&CC). One potential problem we have is that the awning has a zip-in groundsheet and all their site details specify either a breathable groundsheet or the requirement to lift the groundsheet either daily or 'regularly'. As we only have a small 2-berth unit, much of the stuff that we take has to live in the awning (tables, chairs, storage unit, clothes bags etc.) and it's not very practical to have to unzip and lift the groundsheet every day or so.
I've been in contact with the CC by email and got a reply that didn't really answer my questions and stated that the requirement would be advised by the Wardens on site. I can understand that to some extent but it doesn't help much when our decision to join depends on their policy. I am still awaiting a reply to my follow-up to them sent on 24th November.
So, if there are any TT owners out there that regularly use CC sites, my questions are:
1) Am I likely to be allowed to use my ZIG on grass on a CC site?
2) What is the CC's definition of 'regular' with respect to lifting a groundsheet (if it's more than 4 days it won't be a problem as we usually camp Monday to Thursday)
3) What are hard standings like for pitching a TT with awning?
When on a site that only allows breathable groundsheets we don`t use the ZIG and put down a breathable groundsheet. Not as warm, but solves the problem.
It would be very unusual for anyone to query your use on a CC site, especially so if you are only ever likely to be there for four nights.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
We have never been queried on the CC&C sites unless it is Franchaise and they own it. But not as yet a tt only a tent has been asked to raise it up. But we have not, so depends on site mgr I guess. We did camp on a 5 c site and she was like a jail warden coming round on a daily basis, we stuck it out but never went back did not fancy lifting the groundsheet daily BEFORE we went out no matter how early start we wanted. No wondr hardly anyone went back there if any did. We go hard standing or grass. But now usually only use cabin and smaller nylon adapted awning.Breathable piece of groudsheet but not all over as it was cut for another tt.not fc what we have now.Not wasting it.
We often use hard standing with our FC and put up full awning. We use a cheap non breathable groundsheet with a breathable on top for comfort (some of the stones are quite chunky). A word of caution, we have had to invest in rock pegs and a lump hammer as some of the hard standings are very hard!!
we are cc menbers and use there sites with our trailer tent we put a heavy duty groundsheet down first then a tent carpet on top of that, we dont lift our groundsheet nor have we been told to lift it while we have been on the sites, have used both hardstading and grass pitches with no problems use rock pegs for the hardstanding pitches though
We TT'd for 10 years as members of CC at least 3 times a year and always used hardstanding. If you take an extra groundsheet and a pair of slippers/cloggies we found it was just as comfy as a hard grass pitch, just remember to put your slippers on if you get up in the middle of the night, better hard ground than waterlogged if it rains. As previous poster says though take rock pegs!!
------------- Why have kids when you can have a dog?
Thanks all for the comments and suggestions. Very helpful information as usual on here.
I still haven't had a reply to my email but, reading another thread, this is quite usual with the CC. One wonders why they publish an email address on the Contact Us page if they're then going to ignore anything sent to it.
In view of the information you've kindly provided, I think we'll probably join in the new year and see how we get on.
