Hi all,
got a bit bored of Xmas TV, so despite the grim weather outside started thinking back to last years camping in our 2005 countryman, and the problem that came to mind was the main door zip. We ve had it 2 years now and Im sure it was OK then but over that time the canvas has got tighter to the point where it is impossible to close the last 4 inches of zip. Its worst when the canvas is wet.
Im fairly sure Im tensioning the canvas in the right sequence, and have just watched the Highbridge UTube clip to see if anything was obviously wrong, but all seems the same.
Anyone else encountered the problem and come up with a solution ?
All suggestions gratefully received, thanks in anticipation, Paul
we have trouble with our Pathfinder zip too. I know it is all about how you put it up as we have managed to get it right sometimes but we get it more wrong than right and often have a gap even after a really strong tug on the zip!
If you can do put up the canvas with the zip closed and make sure it is still closed as you tension the poles and attach the canvas to the trailer!
Thanks for the suggestion Homebird, but my OH suffers back problems and the beds are adjusted with a spirit level so I know thats not the problem.
Andcows recommendation is probably the way to go for now, before we resort to more drastic means, thanks anyway.
We have a Fiesta (the Pennine equivalent to the Countryman).
We always close the door zip before tensioning the poles inside and haven't had any problems with it being too tight.
------------- I came into this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left.
I agree with black fox, on the odd occasion we have tensioned our fiesta and forgot to fully close the zip and the door zip just would not zip fully down.

I had to replace the zip on my 1993 fiesta when my zip was damaged. The following year it broke again. I cut the door out and had two straight heavy duty zips fitted, with velcro on the top and bottom works a treat .In my opinion, zips were never designed to go around corners.
